HEEEELP ! Layout issue (scenes + slowness pb) after macOS update overnight

HELP !

I worked on a 60 pages document and this morning after after opening my file there is several issues: :scream:

  • All is SUPER SLOW (I passed the doc in hybrid format) but still it is normally not that slow ; it takes hours to go slide by slide
  • I cannot refresh the SKP link : when I click on the image which I should be able to refresh, I cannot even access to it : there is not blue frame appearing !!
  • the scenes appear wrongly : 3d captures appears with part of the hidden items :sob:see capture
  • some of the one B&W pages are now colored see captures

On top of that I need to deliver this document with the last changes in a couple of hours :sob:

Thanks for your kind help !

Maya

PS : I changed my computer last July, so it is fully new with M3 card

Yes. updating an OS right before a deadline is like buying new shoes just before a marathon. it’s not gonna end well.

@Barry mentioned that SU24 is mostly fine with Sequoia, however it’s the very first release of sequoia and the os itself has some bugs and kinks.

that’s why in general, it’s not worth it updating mac os before the second or third update.

beyond that what can we do ? not much. In layout’s preferences, are you using the new engine (experimental) or the old one ? can you try switching between both ?

if you export as pdf, do the weird artefacts remain ? or is it only when working in layout ?

Actually I thought there would be an update but it seems it did not happen over night as I thought ?Processing: Capture d’écran 2024-09-18 à 10.47.32.png

No I am not using the experimental ; I can try switch back and forth

I can try

Plus, in the meanwhile, I copied my document, and try to accept to correct the errors (see previous capture). After waiting 20 min, it seamed to have updated almost correctly the document but I had this “WARNING flag” appearing see capture
I was feeling relieved but then it bugged again
to the scene issue described in my 1st message !! I don’t understand

Haha je ne suis pas sur que mon client ni mon menuisier n’apprĂ©cient ce nouveau layout (sans mauvais jeux de mot) :joy:

I tried but it did not change anything

Nope

Now, and I don’t know wh, I have finally access to the blue frame to update the link to SKP. This did not change anything
However, I tried putting back to low resolution (tramé in French) and then back to high resolution (Hybrid) and this seems to work so far

Plus slowness has disappeared

Fingers crossed
I don’t know what happened but seems linked to Hybrid format

It is a known issue that when you use view clipping instead of a section plane to create, for instance, an interior elevation, things that are “behind the camera” come into view in Vector or Hybrid mode. Another known iddue is that when a model is far from the origin, in Hybrid mode, edges and faces mismatch.

Good points from @ateliernab and @Anssi, and I would only add that we always try to test if the issue is in SketchUp (the Viewer - linked in LayOut) or LayOut itself. If you’re in vector or hybrid in LayOut, take that scene in SketchUp and try exporting a PDF from SketchUp. If it looks bad there, we can file a bug but nothing to help you in the short term. For a quick, better look, about the only thing you can do is to go to the pages that don’t render correctly, change to raster viewports, set your File-Document Setup->Rendering resolutions to High, and see what you get.

Once you have a bit of time, let’s see if we can figure out what happened.
