idk what happened, all of the sudden when i grouped together some 2d line work I was no longer able to explode or access the editing window for that group. could it be the tags?

Yes I also see it acts weirdly in SU2026. I can window select the groups when in Top parallel projection, but cannot select anything in perspective view (individually or multiple via window select.)
What SketchUp version are you working in?

Perhaps update your forum profile via the avatar menu at top right.
What happens if you switch to perspective view? I opened it on my phone in SketchUp web and once I switched to perspective I can double click and select.
