Has Trimble Connect Stopped Converting DWG to TRB

Hello,
I am using the current version of SketchUp.

I have been importing dwgs into SketchUp by converting the dwg to a trb and then importing the trb to SketchUp. See the clipped post below.

Now the option to convert the dwg to a TrimbleBIM does not appear when I right click the file. I cannot find a way to create a TrimBIM to import into SketchUp.

Of course, if I try to open the dwg, the message is this is not a SketchUp file.

Did Trimble drop the convert to TrimBIM? I cannot find any explanation on Help so if anyone knows what I am missing, please help.

Thank you,
Glenn Richardson

The current Trimble Connect ‘extension’ is now integrated in SketchUp and has lost the capability to import or ‘visual reference’ other file formats.
In that post, Trimble Connect’s Desktop version is used to convert the dwg to a trimbim.
Using file > import in SketchUp uses the build in dwg importer to convert, with less info.
You can download a trimbim in the browser version (connect.trimble.com open the dwg in the 3d viewer, than click on the three dots) or download the Desktop app and do it locally as described in that post.

Then use the import fuction inside SketchUp.

I don’t know why they do that. They could make my workflow be broken without “Import as visual reference” feature. Now I must download Trimble Connect 2.0 from Extension Warehouse to continue working or back to SketchUp 2023.

@SketchUpTeam please fix this or at least provide us with a proper dwg import that retains text, attributes etc.

Hello Mike,
Thank you for the reply. We have been preparing for hurricane Francine here and I am now getting back into the process. I will follow your directions.

Take care!
