Guidelines and tools missing

i got the hint to write here from Trimble support, because it seems that they can’t help me :frowning: I just purchased Sketchup Go, going from the free version. But it’s not succesful Unfortunate. i have no guidelines delete possibilities, which i had in the free version, and it seems that there are more tools on my iPad than on my iMac, using sketch up Go ??? why ?

i have to admit that i am not impressed? i paid version should in my opinion provide you with more possibilities. :frowning:

and also the support i got is really bad, I may be from Denmark, but i have paid for it, so i guess i deserve the same service, and @ least a product that works and has the tools. :open_mouth:

This is in SketchUp Go.
delete guides
I created a keyboard shortcut for deleting guides.

Are you certain you have signed into SketchUp Go on your iMac and aren’t still using the free version? Are you using SketchUp for iPad on your iPad?

your ipad has a few specific tools that use the pencil or (eventually) the lidar.

so yeah, technically, your ipad has more tools than sketchup Go.

also, on your ipad, whenever you select a tool, you’ll see all the variation displayed. on your mac, you’ll need to use alt / shift / the arrows to have the same result.
the iPad UI therefore looks more “complete”. it’s not really

Yes

I used the link they send to me, so it should be Go version

Thx

Ok

Makes sense

Thx

Check that. Do you have the Solid Tools in the tool palette? And what happens if you click on one of them?

Hi Dave:

Yes i have does tools, and i can activate them, but nothing happens, its if they don’t work like they should. I honestly thing there’s something wrong the this Go package they sold my :frowning:

There’s nothing wrong with the “Go package”. You don’t actually buy a package, you subscribe (plans). Depending on the subscription type, you can use certain version of Sketchup modelers.
With the Go Plan, for example, you can use the iPad and web-based 3D modelers.

The link to the web-based modeler is exactly (literally) the same for those with a free and Go subscription. The difference is that the email address you use to log in (Trimble id) already has access to the use of more tools and functions.

The fact that you see the Solid tools confirms that your subscription is working.

So the tools are there, you just have to learn how to use them.
Here you can start, for example:
Getting Started with SketchUp for Web
Trimble Learn
SketchUp - YouTube

Please try to explain more clearly what is not working as you think it should? What exactly are you doing and what is happening and what is it that you expect to have happened?

Hi Dezmo

I have tried all to option and schools to figure out if I did something wrong, but no help from that

Because it’s simply not available

I have work with the free version some years now, and I know where to look if I had some problems, or questions:blush:

I believe I have tried all the options possible ?

But there are really some clever guys in those forum, so hopefully a magic moment will appear and solve the issue

Sorry that I inserted the topic 2 times in dif forums

But I got a link from support, but no explanation of where to draw attention to my problem

Besides as DaveR shows, here is another method how to delete guidelines:

delguidelines

solidtoolexample

Another thing to get into my mind is that you are using the Safari web browser, which is not fully supported. Besides - according to your forum profile - you have old hardware, with Intel Iris Pro Graphics card. Which may also not be the “best”.
If you look here What You Need you will see that you can achieve better results with the Chrome browser, for example. Maybe it would be worth trying.

Hi Dezmo

No I am using chrome, I have experienced that it doesn’t work with safari, it’s the same for the free version

I’m using this iMac

Apple iMac i7 2019, 3,2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core, Retina 4K 21,5"

I still don’t really understand. What worked in the free version that doesn’t work with the Go subscription?

For example, What exactly do you do -step by step - when you try to delete guidelines?
What happens when you do what I showed in the animations above?
What happens when you do what DaveR showed in the animations above?

Can you take screenshots, screenrecords?

Hi Dezmo.

in the free version i used the column on th right side, where i chose the glasses, in which you could find the delete guidelines, In the go version i wrote that you should look after it under style, which i did. But it’s not appearing ?

on the left side you can search for it. and yes the text delete guideline is appearing, but i doesn’t, the opportunity to make a shortcut i given, but this is also not working??

i give up. i have googled it, asked AI, and looked @ youtube. so tried a lot of possibilities.

but its stille the same :frowning:

thx for your intensive help

br

Thorben

Go (license) - under Style (Edit)… working :white_check_mark:

Assign a shortcut… also working :white_check_mark:

Hi Mihai

i tried all what you so perfectly show in movies. But it doesn’t work ? that’s the strenge thing about it ?

You are the only one who sees what it does and what appears on your screen, so either take a screenshot/screencapture (video) of the steps you follow, or with luck it may fix itself at some point.

I know I’m the only one who see’s what’s going on.

I guess that I will simply live with it, and certainly not resign for sketchup

But thx for your help

Have a nice one
