Hi all,
I’m trying to make a face-me component in SketchUp which will render in VRay. I’m using a transparent PNG and have tried two versions of the components - one using the PNG as an image and just turning that straight into a component, the other importing it as a texture and applying it to a face, then making that the comp.
Below are two screenshots of the plant in Photoshop, with a dark grey background. As you can see I was very careful to clean it up as neatly as I could. These have an RGB profile and exported as PNG files.
Below that is a screenshot of the VFB (and SU) which clearly shows a grey haze around the plants. This is really noticeable over distance, which is an issue as they’re supposed to be filling in a big area of meadow (along with other 2D face-me comps)!
Below that are the material settings within VRay for the one which is using the PNG as the texture.
I’d be very grateful for any advice you may have please - I’ve done lots of these in SU before but this is my first time trying one that will be rendered, plus I’m very much a beginner in VRay.
Thank you!
Stats:
VRay version 6.20.09
Mac OSX Sonoma 14.2
Sketchup 24.0.554
EDIT TO ADD:
I’ve since experimented more and realised that the “grey haze” is actually the albedo colour. The second to last image below is of the image texture plants (there are two models I’m trying to use) and the final image is of the same plants but made straight from the image. I feel like this is going to be something really simple! Will go off and make sure my VRay is up to date, just in case it’s not. Thanks for any advice.
