Hey everyone!
Due to supply/demand issues I don’t want to overpay for RTX 3080, so getting this next month:
Intel Core i7-10700K 8x 3,80GHz, Boost bis 5,10 GHz / 32GB DDR4 RAM / 1 TB M.2 PCIe SSD / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 / DisplayPort + HDMI / 6x USB 3.2 + 6x USB 2.0 / WiFi 6 + BT 5.0 / Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
Since my GF right now works from RTX2070 based laptop, I would assume the jump in terms of performance would be noticeable?
The question is then, which gaming monitor I should mix it up so both sides are happy? (I know 4k 144hz LG model looks appealing but I am afraid RTX 3070 still cannot drive proper FPS, so I am looking at 1440p options). That is why I want the best of both world for the Monitor: which one you would choose? Any models appreciated. Thanks!
If you’re doing gaming as well as productive work there’s no way around a ultra-widescreen monitor imho. I recently got a iiyama Red Eagle (model GB3461WQSU) w/ 3440x1440p resolution, 144hz and 1ms GtG. It’s pretty great from a price to performance ratio.
Gaming on it is a blast, a 3070 should be more than enoughto drive it, using a 2070super with it myself - works fine. Productive work is also great, the decent screen real estate gives you a ton of options when it comes to window placement, the fluidity of the 144hz is also nice to have.
Probably not very noticeable, if at all. SketchUp is very much dependent on the performance of your CPU, and being single-threaded, there is a limit to what is possible. The faster your GPU is the longer time it spends waiting for the CPU to give it something to work on.
I have the LG 4k 32" 60hz.
Nice image but it doesnt auto switch sources which is a pain if you plug a laptop in often. Amd it’s not height adjustable or rotateable either.
I would definitely buy 32inch but not necessarily a widescreen. 1440p is ok but depends how close you sit. 4k is real nice for everything.
I dont see any issues with games and fps around 40-60 (capped at 60).
Do you really notice anything higher than 60fps??
Metro exodus, far cry 5, assassins creed, cyberpunk, etc. All run smoothly on a 3080 super at 4k on ultra settings. 3070 would be very similar i think.
Most modern AAA games (the ones that will stress your system) can dynamically adjust quality and resolution(with dlss) to maintain high fps if that’s what you prefer.
