That’s a sure sign that you inadvertently got the vertical edge of the wall instead of the next horizontal. If you move the mouse down closer to the horizontal edge before releasing, the FMT will change the extrusion to follow horizontally. This kind of fussiness is the reason @DaveR and I recommended pre-selecting the path instead.
