So, when I first upgraded to studio, strange things were happening. Lights would become not adjustable, disappear in model but work in V-Ray or vice versa… Then I would get this huge black box at the point of my line tool that made selecting end points near impossible. But it seems to have healed itself. Or more likely, been worked out by the good people at Sketchup. I’m self-taught, so I’m still struggling a bit with getting the materials and lighting right, but I’m pretty close to photo real. One thing is though: I’m having issues with importing materials from chaos. They usually show up black in the model but render fine. Does anyone else have this issue? I also have problems editing chaos materials. And why does neither chaos or Sketchup have ies lights? I tried to download some, but unsuccessfully. Can anyone recommend a good site to get them?
Some materials show as proxys, I don’t know the exact reason why some materials are proxyfied and other not, I guess that some materials are too big and would cause SketchUp to get laggy
What problems are you having? I can edit materials on the asset editor without any issues, Actually I do that a lot of times, cause I create my own materials and I must upload all the texture maps to have a nice realistic PBR material. Sketchup doesn´t have any artificial lights the only light on sketchup is the sun light, but V-Ray does have IES light this is the icon to activate it.
Yes, and then it asks me to import one. It asks for a file name in a window. It doesn’t just give me a list of options. Do you get a list of options?
I thought you had already a library, you can download some free lights from these website
There is another site with a lot more variety but they´re not free.
Ah. Thank you. The IES lights I did download were incompatible or didn’t work for some other reason. Will do. Thanks
