File will no longer open

Continuing the discussion from I can't open my skp file Please Help:

Please Help! As of last week I can no longer open my .skp model file in the 2017 version of Sketchup on my laptop. I get an error message saying “Failed to open document”. When I try to open it on the online free version, it says “this does not appear to be a sketchup model”. Are you able to open the file and purge it or something that may save it? Below is a link to the .skp model file.

Do you have a .skb version of the file?

BTW, there is no 2017 Free (web) version of SketchUp. Please correct your forum profile.

No go over here trying to open it in Pro. It’s a similar pattern I’ve seen before; you get the error message, then the window opens like normal only for there to be these two broken pull-down menus in the upper left corner. If you touch them, the whole application spits back a bugsplat report.

Better leave this to @colin and company. They’ve worked miracles before. They should be able to get to the bottom of this.

I downloaded the file hours ago, but then ended up having a busy day!

As with most cases involving older SketchUp files, I could only recover materials and components. Look at this file, and see if any of the recovered components help you to rebuild the scene again.
