Extruding faces on topographic map

Hey guys, i’ve just installed SketchUp to do some work on a topographic map and found that only some of the buildings in my .skp file are raised. I tried to manually do this but I can’t seem to select the face of the outline. I’ve attached some images below to try and highlight my issue.

I’ve tried using plugins like TIG-weld but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Share the SketchUp file so we can see what you are working with.

Your forum profile says you are using “Free Plan” of SketchUp. Does that mean you are using the web based version?

2024 is not an operating system and windows 11 is not a graphics card. Please correct your forum profile.

Here’s the file i’m working with:
cadmapper-bristol-england-gb 1.skp (660.7 KB)

Re the profile: I’m not sure the page loaded correctly when I signed up because it prompted me to fill out the information I provided in the areas I did. I’ll fix it now.

Thanks for fixing your profile. So you are using the free web (hobby) version of SketchUp then?

So the shapes that won’t fill with faces are not planar. You can see how the Z-value in the coordinates is different for all four corners of this “rectangle”

You would need to flatten that shape in order to get a single face to extrude. You should also clean up the shapes. In the case of this one it’s made up of 11 edges when it should be only 4.

With SketchUp Free you would need to flatten everything manaully and it might be easier to simply draw new shapes to replace those that are there. With SketchUp for Desktop (Pro or Studio) there are some extensions that could be used to flatten all of the edges to a single plane.

Ah sorry I forgot to mention i’m using the Free Pro Trial desktop version. Do you have any plugins to recommend? Obviously there’s a lot of buildings so i’d like to try avoid having to manually redo all of the buildings

The 7-day trial is not a Free Plan. It should be Studio.

Search in the Extension Warehouse for ‘Flatten’. That should turn up several options.
