Extension Manager / Warehouse won't open

Have just downloaded Sketchup 2024, trying to add the extensions i used on previous versions of SKP.

But for some reason neither the Extension Manager or Extension Warehouse will open? have tried with an existing model to open, and with a new model. neither will work?..

SU 2024 does not properly handle some display configuration.
Most likely the Extension Manager and Extension Warehouse windows opens off screen.

Make sure you are signed into SU.

Follow this guide exactly after selecting: Extensions>>Extension Manager
(Do not click with a mouse or hit any other key)

  1. Hold down the ALT key. Hit SPACEBAR.
  2. Release ALT key
  3. Hit M (Move)*.
  4. Hit one of ← ↑ → ↓ arrow keys
  5. Move your mouse around (without pressing any mouse key) until you see the missing window.
  6. Press left mouse button on the desired place

*Note I assume you have English Windows otherwise you may need to replace “M” with a localised initiate letter, e.g. “L” in French.

(Do the same with Extension Warehouse)

 it is driving me insane!

That means you are doing something differently

Close your SketchUp, then reopen SketchUp, then :
Follow the guide exactly as written.

.

However, there is an other method that can work better for you. It is again essentially to follow exactly as I wrote, nothing more nothing less.

Close your SketchUp, then reopen SketchUp.

  1. Select the menu with mouse: Extensions>>Extension Manager

  2. Hold down the ⊞ Win key and Shift key together.

  3. While you still holding above keys Hit the → right arrow key several times until the Extension Manager windows appears

  4. Release all keys

_
(You can do the same if the first step is selecting the menu with mouse: Extensions>>Extension Warehouse)

Ps. The method also works if you only hold the ⊞ Winkey and hit the →right arrow key several times, the most important is to do not click with your mouse or do not hit other keys as written after selecting the Extension Manager menu.

Thanks, I’ll give this a try tomorrow, I’m out of the office now.

This worked! Thank you!

Not working for me.

These methods are not working for me either. I was able to get Extensions manager to work but NOT extensions warehouse. Did you ever get it to work? I am getting desperate here!

Your forum profile indicates you are using the free web version of SketchUp. The web based versions of SketchUp have no facility for using extensions so there’s no reason for them to be able to access the Extension Warehouse.

If you aren’t using the free web version, which version are you using? Correct your forum profile.

i just upgraded today to sketchup pro.

Which version of SketchUp Pro?

What operating system? What graphics card?

Please correct your forum profile.

updated. i have both sketchup 2024 & sketchup 2025.

But the extension warehouse will no open in 2024 like it does in 2025 (where I had no issues). I am trying to get it to work in 2024 because I want the free Lumion extension (that supposedly is not compatible with sketchup 2025

Thank you. Did you install SketchUp correctly? On Windows that requires right clicking on the installer and selecting Run as administrator.

i am not sure - is there a way to check that? because i thought i did
but i dont know about the administrator bit
? i just followed the prompts

Close SketchUp and run the installer by right clicking on it, choose Run as administrator, and then choose Repair.

Ok I did that, but I never saw a “repair” button. Just clicked to allow it to make changes to my device then it opened Sketchup 2024. Got the extension warehouse to open - and it seems to be working now (not having to do the little ALT-Space-M trick each time) - so that is great - THANK YOU. However, I still have to do the trick every time I need to open the extension manager for whatever reason. But thats not a big deal.

So I guess I just needed to run the installer again and that was the fix? ugh.

I don’t believe you ran the installer.exe as Admin, just Ran the software as Admin.
Find the Installer.exe, probably in your downloads folder, or download a new copy and Run that as Admin.
