I am doing a ‘test run’ printing at scale for a project I have due in a couple of weeks. It’s my first time using Sketchup and I just want to ensure I am exporting the final result from Layout to PDF correctly (before paying for the costly size of printing).
-I have the scale set to: 1:500 (AO size paper - its a big site)
-Do I simply cilck Export, choose PDF, and Save. Then I just tell the printing company to print at the appropriate scale on AO
Additionally, anyone got any tips on how to set out a good title block, I played around with the insert rectangle and add text but seems finicky. Would love it if anyone had some great templates.
When you export the PDF it will automatically be set to the 841 x 1189 paper size. You can tell the print shop it’s A0 (A-zero) paper or to print without any scaling.
In your first screenshot the viewport shows that the Camera properties have been modified from what is set in the scene. Be vary careful with this as it can create a mess for you if the camera gets reset. It’s better and safer to avoid overriding the scene’s camera properties.
Eeekk I’m not sure what you mean about the two different views - do you mean if I were to go back to the Sketchup model and make amendments then it would muck up the view in layout?
The viewport you show selected has had the Camera properties modified from the original scene as evidenced by the dark gray background and Reset button in the SketchUp Model panel.
If you make changes to the Camera properties for the scene in the SketchUp model those changes won’t come over unless you reset the Camera in LayOut. And, depending on the changes you made to the Camera properties, resetting them could screw up your labels requiring more work to sort things out.
