Hi Mathias,
I took a look at your first file, and it looks like the file got corrupted somehow. Behind the scenes, a .layout file is simply a .zip file, but since your file was corrupted, LayOut couldnât unzip it. Hereâs how I fixed it:
- Rename the extension from .layout to .zip.
- On a command line, I ran the following command:
unzip ~/Downloads/Arbejdstegninger.zip -d ~/Downloads
Note that it might be a good idea to unzip into a temp folder, as there are a number of files that will be extracted to the root level. Also note that I was unable to do this through the UI, as it gave me an error when attempting to unzip the file.
3) This was showing that some things were corrupted within the zip file, but it was able to unzip most of the contents.
4) I then re-zipped what was successfully unzipped (including all of the .xml files, and the ref and pages folders), and changed the extension back to .layout from .zip.
This seems to have recovered most of your data for that file.

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive.

Are you saving your files to a network drive or to One drive or Google drive? If so this is a recipe for disaster. Save to a local drive then upload it. To open the file download it to your local drive then open it. I was able to download the file, it is over 1G. There is a SketchUp file inside that is an intact file. It is about 100 mb after purging. My upload speed is too slow to upload the file.
Perhaps someone with a faster connection will do it for you.
I think this was the problem. I was saving my files to Onedrive. Thank you for responding and for trying to help me. I decided to start detailing again, because I was unable to solve the problem

While opening my Sketchup Layout file I got the notification âError reading LayOut file âŚâ
I came across your solution and tried to use it for my case.
I changed the extension from .layout to.zip.
Unfortunately, I cannot unzip it now. I got the notification that the compressed folder is empty.
I tried to attach my corrupted files to this message but I canât do this as I am still getting this statement that the file is empty.
Do you have any ideas what could go wrong?
