Dynascape to Sketchup terrain issues

So this is more of a broad question and not specific about one certain problem. I use Dynascapes for all my plan view designs and the area that I work in is primarily lake homes so more of elevation changes and terrains to work with. When I finish my plan view, I will export it to Sketchup as a skp file so then I can upload a Hover model for the house and then able to start modeling in Sketchup. I use the sandbox tool and use it for contours but I have not found a good way to cut the terrain to put retaining walls in for a walkout basement or even just to show how many walls will be needed in the completed design. I am a very visual learner so if you can include pictures and/or videos to help explain your point, that would be much appreciated! Any extensions or advice you have on how you complete terrain and retaining walls will help!

in short, make your terrain a solid volume.

there are different ways to reach that, you can manually draw sides and a bottom, or you can use free extensions like this one

once you’ve made your terrain into a solid group, you can use the solid tools to carve or add to it.

allow me to illustrate. Dinner is not completely cooked, I can spare 5 min

here is your starting point.

your terrain, eventually softened. then you either draw the skirts, or use the extension (same result)

from there, solid tools.
