Dynamic component, simple component copy and number in text

Dear users of Sketchup,

I have a question regarding the use of Dynamic Components. After having watched multiple videos on this function, I still don’t know how to create this dynamic component.
The thing I want to be able to do is to create multiple copies of a simple rectangle with a certain color, and then along the green or red axis + a text number going up.

To summarize, the user would have the following options:

  • Put in the amount of copies along red or green axis, both directions possible for either axis (but always same distance).
  • Number in text going up for each copy.

At the moment I can’t even get the simple copy of the component working. Can someone please send me in the right direction or maybe provide the entire solution?

Thanks in advance!

Here is an example of how it looks:

Why don’t you share your DC here so people can see what you’ve got…

Start with this…

This adds the pretext as well, but to make it quicker make pretext short and other identification as permanent to model

text and copies.skp (389.2 KB)

the “copy” attribute is a read only assigned to original and its DC copies, normally not shown in original, “0”
so, adding copy +1 to each text attribute, sets the number, then using Minh Tien DC to create the 3D text

Wow thanks a lot! This is exactly what I needed!

Unfortunately I’m not getting the copies with the 3D text. What is Minh Tien DC? Is that an extension? I did a search on it but I can’t find it.

Please upload the model, to show how to and where to paste and reference
