Dxf import

Hi

I’m trying to import this DXF into SU 2019 PRO - converted from PDF in Inkscape.

Trying to improve line quality using DXF conversion for more accurate tracing in SU for site plan.

joesite2019.dxf (3.6 KB)

I get the following messages/errors:

32%20PM 49%20PM

Would anyone have any advice or fix on this?

Thank you!

Daniel

Without checking your file…

When you click import a window pops up to select the dxf. In that window click into options at the bottom and try to uncheck “preserve drawing origin” if you can do that.

Try to import the file again.

It could be that the dxf requires some fixing to get it to a “decent” state though.

Hi

Yes, tried that already.

Thanks

When I open the DXF file in Draftsight, there’s nothing to see.

I tried various things, including using Illustrator and an online DXF viewer. Nothing showed in each case. I can open it in a text editor, and there are 654 lines of text. Exporting a rectangle from SketchUp give 124448 lines of text.

Thanks. Something isn’t right. Will keep researching.

Not sure what’s going on. Will keep at it or just trace in Inkscape to make less complicated and bring over to Sketchup. Not sure why it’s not showing. Thanks!

I tried again, only I purged unused. The rectangle exported as 5030 lines of text. Lot better than the 124448 lines, but still over 6 times larger than your example file.

Thanks. I scanned 24x36 plan at Kinkos (Fed Ex) to PDF.

File then opened in InkScape - scan is visible. Converted to dxf. But this dxf file does not appear SU.

Thanks

A scanned image does not convert automatically to vector lines by this method. Your DXF file only carries settings and such, but it contains no drawing entities.
