DWG won't import

I’m having an issue importing DWG file. Possibly an issue with missing Xref in cad file. What can I do on the cad side to clear the issue and get in into sketchup?

On the Cad side, “Bind” all the XREFs that you want to be included in the import. This will turn them into normal blocks.
Also, if the objects in the CAD file are created with the special tools in “vertical” applications like AutoCad Architecture or Civil, they must be “Exported to AutoCad” to convert them into standard AutoCad geometry.

I believe the original file was sent to me with the Xref issue. I’m not super savvy with cad, so I’m just guessing that this may be the issue after reading others having the same problems.

It’s all too common. Just today I was viewing a set of files from the archives of a client that had just some scattered annotation items showing, and the “beef” would have been in xrefs that were missing.

Is there anything can do to fix that or do I need to request the sender fix the issue and resend?

If the sender didn’t send you the xrefed files that is the only thing you can do. Best would be for them to bind the files for you.

Can I upload the file and see if I’m missing something simple?

Got it. Just had to delete the xref. Didn’t realize I could do that, again, Autocad newb.
