I’m trying to draw some double hung windows. It’s been a very long time since I sold them. I don’t remember dimensions and don’t have any to measure. I searched and could not find the information I seek. I would guess them to be 1" to maybe 1.25" wide and about the same thickness.
I want to know the nominal size of sash frames and muntins used in double hung windows. IIRC, muntins are rabbeted at or very near a quarter inch to accept glass panes but I can’t recall the typical width of muntins.
I’m pretty sure that windows are sized based on the outside dimensions of the window frames; thus a standard 4060 double hung single window is 4’0" by 6’0" (where the 4060 designation comes from) and contains 2 sashes. Assuming that the sash frames are smaller by the thickness of frames - putatively 3/4" - then their outside dimensions would be 48" less 1.5" or 46.5" wide and the 2 sashes together would be 72" - 1.5" or 70.5" high. One must account for the fact that each sash is in its own track and they overlap at top and bottom. IIRC, the overlap is at or near 1.5".
These recollections inform me then that the outer dimensions of each sash would be ~46.5" wide by 35.25" + 1.5" overlap or 36.75" high. Mental estimates would cause me to assign ~4" to the width of a sash frame and 1-3/4" to 2" in thichness.
Can anyone provide me with a link to where I can find these dimensions or provide them. Nominal dimension would be great.
i would add that many of the pro models have a lot of extra geometry which might not matter for your work. in my case, once i set the sizes, i’ll either use the outer shell function or just explode and regroup then clean up.
