Does Anyone Know of a Sketchup Plugin for Floor Plans?

I generally use Sketchup to create 2D Floor Plans - is there a (warehouse) plugin which would allow me to access components such as kitchen counters, fireplaces, sinks, etc.? This would be for 2D Floor Plans in ‘overview’ mode only - Sketchup’s Warehouse is basically 90% 3D models - thx!

Your forum profile implies you are using SketchUp in an internet browser. That would be SketchUp Go. There are no extensions for the web-based versions.

You can use the 3D Warehouse with that version, though, and get a variety of components that suit your needs.

Why do you use a 3D modeling application to do 2D drawing?

This comes to mind:

I’ve only used it 1x and a loooong time ago but for a massive 2d project that I would not want to do manually. It was helpful but I recall it hard to snap the doors at exactly the right locations at times. It was a one-off project as I never deal in only 2d projects. It was a decent plugin for that use case. I recally paying for it but again… Only used it once since I don’t do those kind of projects.

For full 3d plugins that also have 2d applications and output, I use Medeek for architecture and gkware cabmaker for kitchen/bath cabinets. Both are excellent but likely much more than you are looking for.

I don’t have an extension for that, but I have a 2D models library that I created myself and shared for free, you can download it here: Model - 2D Graphics - Checkout

Some of them are Dynamic Components, means you can scale without worry about changing profile and you can interact with them, too.

These are awesome - thx! How do I import them to Sketchup?

Thank you for your response. Cyentruk has an awesome 2D Models Library.

There are 2 ways:

  1. Use native component tray of SketchUp:
  • (1) First, you will add the folder contains the library from your local drive.
  • (2) Add the collection to favorites to save for later use.
  • Then you can drag component from Component tray into your current model.
  1. Use an extension for managing SketchUp library, there are many extensions to do these. As you see in the images above, I have an extension to do that, its name “5D+ Library”.

Are you actually using a browser-based version of SketchUp as your profile shows? If so, the method shown by @Cyentruk will not work for you. You can put the components into a folder on your computer and then use the Import option from the menu, top left, to import them into your model.
