"Dimensions" field is not editable

Hello Guys
I have installed sketchup pro 2024. I started with drawing a rectangle, released mouse and I wanted to edit dimensions field on the right bottom corner but I was unable to do that. Why is that? On every video on youtube about sketchup, that field is editable.

By editing, do you mean selecting a dimension to alter it?
There’s no need to click in or on the VCB.
Just let go of the mouse and type your dimensions…
Take notice of the separator before you start typing, and use the same as in the VCB. It’s a location thing…

I don’t know how to explain that more clear. I attached printscreen. That field is not editable. I was using same version on my macbook and there it was editable.

The white background indicates that it is editable. DO NOT CLICK THERE!, just start typing, and what you type replaces what is in there. This is different on the Mac - the Mac doesn’t care whether you click or not.

Don’t click into it.

As a test draw a rectangle. Follow these steps;

Press R for rectangle.
Click first point.
Click second point (anywhere, it doesn’t matter).
Type your dimensions 1000, 1000 or whatever. Press enter or return.

If that doesn’t work you may have some strange glitch with the number keys not being recognized.

Not necessarily a glitch - possibly NumLock is not on. Windows default is, for some arcane reason, NumLock off. It keeps on after you turn it on.

Thank you guys, got it. But I have to say that on OSX it is more user friendly becasue I can click whatever I want to edit. Cheers!

On windows it’s even more user friendly because you don’t have to click and select anything…
If you want to change for instance the last number, you just type ;new number…

That is also true on Mac; the right way is to let go of the mouse and just type the values. The only difference is that on Mac it is not ignored if you click the measurements box.

Thanks for the addition Steve!
I didn’t know that…
