Depth of field style available?

Am looking for “Portrait Mode” (photographic depth of field to obscure objects in the distance).

Is there a native style for this, or would this would I have to find a 3rd party renderer for this?

Thanks!

Depth of field doesn’t make darker the objects out of focus, it makes them blurry, vignettes make darker the frame of an image.

Sketchup doesn’t do that, you need a rendering software like V-Ray or enscape to be able to set depth of field or vignettes.

There are options that don’t require a renderer such as Vray.

Might be that you could use Fog to focus the viewer’s attention.

Or a couple of image exports stacked in an image editor with the one behind softened with a blur filter creates the impression of reduced depth of field.

Very nice look.

Never tried Fog before - that does the trick thanks Dave!

Another option you might consider is to use colors/textures on the elements you want to feature and monochrome for the rest.

This is three image exports from SketchUp combined. The governor and reversing mechanism on top of a monochrome export of the rest of the assembly on top of a shadows-only export. The shadows only is of the entire model so the shadows are cast properly. It also makes it easy to soften the shadows a little bit so they aren’t so harsh. Less than one minute in the image editor once the three images were exported.
