Similar things have been suggested.
But as stated, it would kill the segment of extensions built on the side, by actual SketchUp professionals with some of the best domain knowledge. There’s a community with people in similar roles sharing knowledge and tooling for free.
Also, my impression as a reviewer is that the slop extensions are quite often monetized with donation links, in-app purchasing and the like.
And now I’ve spent an hour on this thread instead of working on the design doc addressing these issues

This is part of the problem though. You don’t get to work a 32 hour week with pay for full time and sit by a stream and write poetry or learn to bake or whatever. You will work harder and faster to keep up with the demand as companies cut costs and corners.
The only people who get to do whatever they want and work less and focus on personal development are the people who control the black box, the robots, the automated assembly robots, the looms…

Day 80, no changes still in queue. Is it real long queue? Are you planning to resolve this huge problem?
That’s just 79 AI built AI rendering tools ahead of you in the queue - Trimble are likely busy building AI tools to help them get through the increasing number of AI submissions.
One thing you could do is check your extension with this:
If you see it will be rejected, pull it from the queue, fix, and re-submit.
It seems that EW has been bombarded with submissions. I don’t know if rejections create more of a log jam than submissions that pass the preflight test, but double checking now could get you ‘ahead’ if it would come back rejected anyway.
I’m almost inclined to say that EW should do the ‘unthinkable’ and reject every extension currently in the queue. They could call it an EW ‘Technical Difficulties’ rejection that applies to everyone equally. They could then require submissions to have some sort of indication that Preflight screening has been done. This might shake out ‘bogus’ submissions (not that there are any) from people who uploaded junk or extensions that just don’t meet the requirements and help ‘streamline’ the remaining/resubmissions and future submissions that re-enter the queue.
Is there an option to pull from the queue? 
I’ve been wanting to pull one of mine I put up for shits n’ giggles, but I’ve long since updated and I was like, this don’t need to be reviewed anymore, lol.

Maybe I’m mistaken but if you go to My Extensions → Extensions, then you should see “In Progress”. You click the three dots button on the upper right corner of a submitted extension and you should see the “Convert to Draft” and “Delete Submission” options.
I would say what you’ve shown lately is probably a step ahead of the previous stuff so just pull it if you can.
Unfortunately, I only show it as “In Queue” with a “Show Details” option, so I can’t take it down.
No option under View Details to delete submission. Looks like once it’s submitted, that’s that.
Honestly, that may be one way to help clear up these submission queues; curious how many more out there like me want to cancel their submission?
Ah, I guess I am mistaken. The reason I was not sure is that I left a rejected extension in there, and it does show those options. But I don’t have any submissions now to check because I’m waiting to become a vendor and I don’t want to gum up the system with any updates, or new stuff.
It seems that it would make sense for EW to allow deleting submissions before review. Let’s say you have v1.0.0 submitted but by the time it is processed you’ve moved on to your new and improved v1.0.1. Better to delete the first one and submit anew than leave it there for processing, only to have to do them do -nearly- the same for the new one. It could be a good number of folks who’d delete older submitted versions. If I were at EW, I’d want to give people as many outs as possible while catching up.
