Curving a drawing / Drawing on a curved surface

Hi there,

I’m trying to recreate a pattern on a curved ceiling and not quite sure how to approach it. The ceiling has already been created, so I thought I could try and draw out the pattern on a flat surface, curve that, and then position it on top of the existing ceiling. From what I can tell on various other forum topics, I may need a plugin to achieve what I want to do, but I’m not sure what the best option is. I also recognise this might not be the best approach either!

While I primarily use SketchUp via the web, I also have SketchUp Pro installed on my iPad.

Here’s what my ceiling looks like at the moment…

Grateful for any advise regarding my approach or suggestions for plugins that I could use.

Neither web nor ipad versions can take advantage of extensions.
However, with a simple half circle you can use a projected texture.

Yes, I did suspect this… I do have access to the Pro software on a Mac Mini, but I think that’s the 2023/24 version because the graphics card isn’t compatible with the latest version.

How would I go about using a projected texture?

In its simplest form, just select the texture and paint it.
This can become quite complex but with a soft curve and and a well sized texture it is a couple of clicks.
