I would like to create a template with my company branding in photoshop/illustrator/publisher and import this into LayOut. Is this possible? If so what are some requirements and guidelines i should follow to make this successful?

I would insert the company logo as a png file. The same for any other images. Text and text blocks Iād make in LO. Put that content on their own layer or layers that can be locked after the stuff is there.
Also take the time to create layers for SU viewports, text, dimensions, and LO drawing elements such as dashed lines and break lines. Choose the paper size, text fonts, dimension style, etc.
Finally, if you normally start a LayOut project by inserting a SketchUp file, make the layer for the viewports the active layer.
Save as a template.
