I have just started work with artistic blacksmiths producing their 3D models to showcase their work to their clients and the world. Ideally, drawings issued should look to be in the old style of ironwork sketches as in the attached. Is there any filter I can apply that would come close to producing this kind of effect or is there a way of creating a new Style that I can use as a template to produce client drawings?
As was suggested, you could use Style Builder to create a style with the edge style you need. As I told you in my reply to your PM, you would also need to do some post processing. I made a couple of image exports from SketchUp, one with just the shading and another with just the sketchy edges. The shading version was run through a filter to create the sketchy look and given a bit of blur to soften it. The edges and the sketchy shading were combined with the image of old paper for the final.
In the case of the second image, I created a watermarked style using the same sketchy line style and the paper image. There were two image exports; one with the watermark and another of just the shading which was filtered to create the sketchy shading.
That image can be “dirtied up”.
FWIW, I think you will need to clean up your model quite a bit and probably increase the number of sides in the curves.
This is a quick example. I’m sure it’s not exactly what you want but hopefully it gives you some ideas.
looking good. I managed a quick export from AutoCAD to Sketchup, hence the rubbish curves and had to delete a lot of the model to bring the file size down to upload it to the forum.
Thank you very much for your time on this. Much appreciated.
There are a bunch of my sketchy line styles available from Sketchucation but a lot of what I did in the images I showed here are done in post. None of it is difficult. I described the process briefly in a post a few up from yours.
