Creating a flat area in a complex landform

I want to create some flat areas for facilities on a slope. I tried using the Solid Tool to trim the landform, but since the landform is made up of different small areas, it doesn’t work. I also tried the Stamp Tool in Sandbox, but it looks strange in my model. Are there any other ways to create flat areas for the facilities? Thanks!

There is a gap between the object and the landform. I want to create flat areas specifically for the objects without making significant changes to the overall landform.

Really hard to tell from that image. If you have a 3D shape that you’re trying to flatten to a flat surface, you might try Vector Push Pull in the Joint Push Pull extension

I tried the Vector Push Pull but it only affects the landform where the object sits on. Are there any ways to drag the landform to meet the base points of the object like this one?

Do you have the original shape of the terrain on which you want to place this playground with the different modules?
The way the model looks now, you are working much too complicated and with models that are too high poly, and not relying on an advantageous tag assignment.

Probably more of a stamp tool in sandbox tools situation. Draw the surface of the base of the object you’re working with, then stamp it onto the landform and it should slope automatically

I’ve done in the past - make the terrain a solid, then subtract out what you don’t want. You can make an indent shape based on what the footprint looks like.

TIIG has a Cut & Fill extension posted over at SketchUcation.

This is exactly what I want to create! Here is the original model I use for the landform. It only covers the grey area in the center of the model, so I offset it to make a base for surrounding buildings.

I tried similar methods but they only trim the overlapping areas of the objects and the model. I want to adjust the landform slightly to show the edges of the object base. For example, I want to remove the green area and show the base of the planter:

For that simple thing you ask, it is not necessary to create Solid Groups and use Solid Tools, but only Intersect Faces, and then the Move tool.

I tried the same method, but the landform is complex, making small adjustments difficult. I increased the number of faces in some areas, which made it even harder to keep the surface smooth.

How did you choose the level where the purple square alley is? And why didn’t you make it flat horizontal?

You could do that, but that’s not how the model should be made.

Yes, you need to expand and model what it would look like removed or adjusted. Imagine you are using an excavator to sculpt the land.

I designed the playground in autocad first and used the sandbox tool to drape the pavings and soft landscape features to the existing landform (the autocad link I uploaded).

I guessed what you did, but why didn’t you choose to make the alley flat and horizontal? The level difference between the corners is small (<25 cm, at 14 m distance).

In this way you would have made your work easier and you would have been able to place the other flat platforms and then you would have created a terrain that surrounded them and which you could shape as you wish.

Eg. - I kept the shape of the terrain, but replaced those elongated triangles with a grid, much easier to model. And instead of using Drape, I created the flat alley, and I connected the terrain to its edge.

Try to work with the cleanest topology possible, to make your work easier.

This is perfect! How do you change the triangles into grid? Can I have the model link to see how it is made? Thanks!

To create that grid you can use Fredo TopoShaper or Sandbox Tools > From Scratch and then wrap the surface over the existing one.

Thanks! These solutions are good. For the Sandbox Tools, does it mean I need to adjust the grid manually to make it look like existing one after wrapping over it?

If you choose Sandbox, you can use the extension AlignEnds.
