Creating A Cylinder On A Path

Hi all

I am needing some help/explanations as to why I am experiencing a particular issue. Firstly, for context, I am creating a plan for a garden box for our backyard and added to this I would like to have a PVC setup where a hose can be attached for easy watering.

I have created the layout for this, to the correct measurements, using the line tool and then added a circle with the correct diameter. When I preselect the path and then use ‘follow me’ the pipe is created successfully but in the corners, which are curved, there seem to be some faces missing. The error message I receive is "the path you have chosen does not begin or end on the extrusion cross section.

When I remove the rounded corners and make them meet at right angles, there are no issues at all. I have tried dong some research and watching videos but I just cannot seem to work out what I have done wrong.

I have attached some images to show you the issue I am dealing with.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

Could be a scale issue. What size is your pipe diameter? Try scaling up by say, a factor of ten…then run FollowMe again and see what happens.

Likely it’s too small and failing to create those surfaces. How many segments is in your circle? If this is not a major component of your design and you don’t need it for rendering / manufacturing / precise geometry use fewer number of segments. 12 or 24 would be where I start depending on the diameter.

Then:

Make the circle and path a component.

Move + Copy this over to the side.

Use the scale tool and scale up the copy 100 or 1000 larger.

Edit the copied component. Use follow me.

Exit the copied component. Your original component should now be correct.
