So I am creating a tool for a spline with 24 teeth and while I have finally figured out the teeth part, I am trying to figure out how to create a curved area in the middle of the shaft rather than an angled part. I am currently modeling this off of something at work, and it has a curved surface but I cant figure out how its done. Here is a picture of the part. Instead of the angled edge on the piece on the side, I want it to have a radius on both sides.
Can you show us a picture of what you are trying to do?
By the way, it isn’t a bug because you haven’t figured out how to do it.
The easiest is probably to draw a half-section of the shape you want and then “lathe” it around a circle using the follow-me tool.
basically it will look something like this. Sorry for the terrible artwork lol. Its in MS paint.
Whenever you can imagine a constant (half) cross section in your object along a certain path (here a circle), without any twists in the path out of plane, then try using ’ Follow Me’ on path and cross sectional face.
I finally got it. Thank you to everyone who helped. One last thing is that I would like to smooth out the circles on the final model. What would be the best way to go about this? I want to smooth out the circle segments in the circled areas.
Edit the edge style and turn off Endpoints and Extensions.
