I’m working on creating a sloping roof for this shape, but I’m having some trouble figuring it out, and I’m not quite sure how to do it in SketchUp. Would it be possible for someone to kindly lend me a hand? (The middle cut out is for a courtyard)
Its not a solid, and I would set this up with the axis at the mid point, and I would model my arcs / circles with more segments, as well as being perpendicular to the axis.
I think once you get your plan sorted out I would use concentric arcs / circles and follow me, then trim with solid tools. Trimming the ends with the hips will require some clever geometry, and there really is no way to make those narrow connectors work, I’m not sure how the roof drains properly. I would make each part separately, and keep it centered on the world axis. Only model half and mirror it and join it later.
That angled roof at the front though will post some challenges to build - if the pitch stays constant the ridge will rise, or you could make it a rectangle and run it back into the main roof.
