Hi I have a question about components lets say I have 2 components they were both 2X4’s can you take them both and make them so they mimic each other. I know you can do it by taking one component and coping it and pasting it to the work area.
Yes components “mimic” other components. If you change one, all the others will change too.
If you don’t want that to happen you have to make them unique…
If you spend some time at The Learning Center, you will learn how to use the tools to get what you want. (interactive tutorials) Also, go to The SketchUp YouTube Channel and pay attention to the Square One series. Both are sponsored by the SketchUp Crew and well worth the time spent there.
I know about the us of components that if you have one component and you copy it you can change both at the same time and if you make one unique they have there own properties. Is what I want to know is if I have 2 like components such as 2 - 2x4x6 that are both unique can I reverse it so they are both like components and then both can change properties.
Select one of them in the model space, then right click on the other one in the component browser and choose Replace Selected.
