Component Attributes and Generating Parts Lists

I use custom made individual part models with attributes built in to inner components to generate parts lists. For example: I have a model of an elbow with attributes of the manufacturer and part number, I will create a job model and bring in many different parts (models) to create large plumbing assemblies. Once I have my large model complete I use the native Generate Report function that is set up to sum up all the parts I’ve used and organize them by part name. I noticed an issue where the outer part is holding attributes that can’t be seen in the model itself and showing up on my reports. Reloading will not fix, bringing the part back into the model shows the correct attributes but doesn’t show unique in the Outliner even though the two parts have different attributes. Purging doesn’t seem to do anything. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Try resaving the component and then re importing all of the instances. The new one has a different name SPEARS 0.75, the existing is SPEARS 1.0. Something going on there… Hard to help without a file to mess with, can you upload a file recreating this with just the 2 offending parts?

Can you elaborate on re import all? Is that a native function to reload all components? I am not familiar with that. Unfortunately I deleted the offending component, purged and saved with only the new component.
If I had to guess, I would imagine it would have started by reloading one component with a different component but I can’t replicate it. For example, starting with a file that is all 1" parts and making a new file with all 3/4" parts.

I meant delete the components (the offending ones only) from the model, purge the model, and then drag the components back into the model as in your video. As for re using parts to build new ones make sure all the sub components are unique, and avoid groups they tend to misbehave.
