We have problems importing a .dae file.
Source is Vectorworks 2021.
Are there certain geometries that SKP does not like in .dae format?
Would rather not use 3DS unless we have to.
What geometry is not coming through the import? Or how is it changed? What’s the dimension of the object being imported? Screenshot or post files.
Nothing is coming through. Alert dialog appears. Import failed.
Looks fine when we view in Preview.
Wondered if there were certain geometries SKP does not like.
We can simply extrude a rectangle in VW2021, and it fails to import, but looks fine in Preview. The geometry is definitely there, but there is something SKP does not like.
Fellow Vectorworks user here, working with a client that uses SketchUp. I’ve run into the frustrating collada import problem on Sketchup 2021. The work around I finally got to work was to import the Collada file exported from Vectorworks into Blender (free software) then export the Collada file from Blender. For whatever stupid reason, this Collada file will open in Sketchup (but it does take a while to import so be patient). I am still trying to figure out the best practices for cleaning the model though cause it isn’t pretty in Sketchup.
Kind of hard to guide you exactly with no more to go on. Can you share the .skp file so we can give you some useful suggestions?
