Hi folks
I frequently have to import geometry that was produced in different software.
One aspect that is problematic is the need to change the axis (base point) of the imported geometry- otherwise it is often incredibly far away (because geo-coordinated basepoints are usually about 100,000m away from the geometry, depending on your locality and the distance to the nearest trig point or geodetic grid).
We can import a DWG with no coorinates…but that just changes the coordinate of the main object, not the internal components.
Changing the axis of a component in SketchUp is not too difficult.
But what if you have a file where every single component has an axis 100,000m away?
This occurs for site objects such as trees (each a unique component with a symbo, and a basepoint (axis) located at true cooordinates).
Imagine manually changing the axis of 500 individual components?
This also introduces error and interop dramas if we ever have to export the geometry back to the original desigener.
So…my request…Can we change the axis of all embedded components in one easy operation?
