Can't Multicopy

I don’t know if i am doing something wrong, but when i try to make multiple of something it doesn’t work. I’ll have the move or rotate tool activated with the little plus sign next to it but when i input the number with x,*, or / in front of it and I’ve tried it behind the number as well, after i press enter it gives me an error saying invalid measurement. Am i doing something wrong?

Did you first set the direction and distance at which you want to make the copies?
