In the Tag Tray, when I single-click, double-click or right-click on the color of a Tag (small square next to where it says “Default” for the Tag linetype), Sketchup freezes and won’t register any other mouse clicks or key strokes, until I hit Escape.
Interestingly that one doesn’t open with the OK or Cancel button highlighted like many windows do so hitting Enter doesn’t close it. Esc should close it, though.
Try repairing the SketchUp installation. Close SketchUp and LayOut, find the downloaded installer, right click on it and choose Run as administrator. Then when prompted, choose Repair. If you aren’t sure you have the last release of SU2020, download it from Download All | SketchUp If you weren’t already running that latest version, you probably won’t see the Repair option but still use Run as administrator.
Alt + space should activate that
Click on the color swatch in the tag panel,
Hit Alt+ Space then type M (english version of windows),followed by any arrow key
The panel should be attached on your cursor and you can drag it out the ‘space between monitors’
You can confirm whether you have the same issue, by clicking anyway. Does Windows beep at you? Also, does pressing Esc recover you from being locked out?
If those two things are true, then the steps should work, unless you’re not running your system in English.
Hi Colin,
Yes, windows beeps at me, esc recovers me and I’m running my system in English.
I just keep getting the search bar when I Alt+space and then when I press M it just searches for things beginning with M.
I tried multiple times before posting in the forum but I just can’t seem to get it right.
SketchUp on web does have a search feature, but that isn’t in SketchUp desktop. What does the search window look like?
You can practice the steps in any application. Try opening a File Explorer window and press Alt then tap spacebar, release both keys, tap M, then any arrow key, and start moving your cursor. If those steps don’t work in File Explorer you are doing a step wrong. If it does work in File Explorer, you may not have the right window active in SketchUp. Try the steps as soon as you have clicked on a tag color, when you’re not seeing the color dialog.
