Sketchup, why is the possibility for network licensing ditched? Our company has about 30 designers (and growing) in which almost everyone uses Sketchup, but only as a small part their workflow. So now I need 30 Pro licenses to provide them software, they only use maybe 10% of their time/work.
We’re still on 2018, but off course have to upgrade. Please bring back the network license format. We live in 2022…with internet, clouds…2018 worked great in networkformat, never had any issues with the double use of licenses. So what is the risk for Sketchup to maintain networklicensing?
We use Enscape and Skatter 2 as extensions within Sketchup in Networkformat! So why not with Sketchup? Kind regards.
We are in the same boat. We have about five core SketchUp Pro users and then another 15-20 users that need it to a much lighter level, conference rooms, and checkout laptops for field work. The network licensing was great for this environment but the named user license is overkill for our more casual users (5-10 hours a month maybe!) and then conference room / charrette spaces are a pain as well. I would love to see network licenses again.
Why did they ditch it? In the immortal words of Mr. Crabs: MONEY, ME BOY!
Many, many firms are in the same boat as you, we could get away with 1/3 as many licenses as we have with only the rare “too many people logged in” glitch, which would probably be generated by someone simply leaving sketchup open when they weren’t actually using it.
