I recently upgraded my iPad Pro to the New 13” iPad Pro with the M4 processor and the new OLED screen that allows me to work out side in bright light. It feels great and works wonderfully, but I have noticed that when using it with SketchUp for iPad that my battery drains even while working with it plugged in.
Has anyone else had this issue?
When will we be able to utilize models from SketchUp for iPad along with SketchUp Pro for Mac or Windows without losing the Tag List that has been set up with Folders. Everytime I jump a model from one device to another I lose the Tags Setup and have to re-organize them which gets old pretty fast. We need some continuity.
Is this only on the 2024 iPad Pro 13” M4, or did you also have these problems with the 2022 iPad Pro 12.9” M2 (5th generation)?
I ask because the latter only uses the second-generation Apple Pencil, while the former only uses the Apple Pencil Pro. They are not interchangeable. I am trying to determine the best iPad hardware to currently purchase for SU.
Did you get a 13” M4 with 1 or 2 TB storage and 16 GB RAM, or a 512 GB or less storage with 8 GB RAM? It seams to me with cloud storage the amount of onboard storage is less important these days, but is the bigger RAM very important to SU and Layout?
Also, the new Pencil Pro has features the second generation Pencil doesn’t have. Does SU now take advantage of them?
Bottom line is should a buy a new 13” M4 or save $ and get a refurbished 12.9” M2 and in either case, how much RAM and storage? thanks!
I just got an 11" iPad Pro M4 a little over a month ago. I got the 1TB model to maximize the RAM, not because I really needed that much storage. I can now load models that would crash my old iPad G6. I only had an original Apple Pencil with that, and I love the new Pencil Pro. Squeeze does bring up a quick menu in SU, but I don’t think double tap does anything. Hover is a great addition. SU isn’t the only app I use, so this has also been great with Procreate, and some other programs I’m playing with including Illustrator, Affinity Design, iPocket Draw and maybe Morpholio Trace or Concepts.
