Black screen when starting up SketchUp_not able to do anything

hello all,
I spent half the day trying to find out why all of a sudden, I have a complete black screen. Buttons are clickable but nothing happens.
I de-installed and re-installed SketchUp, no difference.

And my second question (may be related or not to the former problem):
which steps do I have to take in order to being able to import an OBJ file?
or has this something to do with the sudden black screen?..

Neither Make or Pro have an OBJ importer, but if you go to Extension Warehouse and search for OBJ, you should find a few importers you can add.
