I am modeling a curved finial and need to bevel it to a hipped roof. How do I go about this?
Draw the lower cylinder of the finial long enough to project through all the roof planes. Make sure it is a solid. Then if the roof planes are also solids you can use solid tools to trim the finial to the roof. If not you can open the finial for edit, select the surface of the cylinder, right click and select intersect faces with model. In both cases you will need to cleanup the portion that is below the roof surface.
Thanks, but I’m asking how to get a curved transition between the cylinder and the roof, not how to intersect the faces. There is a red arrow in one of the blueprint shots pointing to what I am talking about.
Just a variation on what @DaveR showed you last year.
Oh man, I completely forgot about that flag pole. I’ll try it out, thank you for reminding me.
