I am also having problems loading on Windows 8; can anyone give a step by step process please.
have corrected a ruby script error w/ SU 2015 as well as the nested directory structure and tweaked the loader file a bit… should work now.

As was eventually pointed out a little earlier…
The SketchUcation PluginStore contains an updated version [v1.0.2] of Flattery AND a warning that the author has not continued support and the original www site’s download is unsuitable for newer SketchUp’s.
The PluginStore Flattery version is compatible with all SketchUp versions.
Get its RBZ from there… SketchUp Plugins | PluginStore | SketchUcation
Yeah, strange that tho, because I downloaded it from Pumpkins to test and it worked, so I didn’t bother to confuse the issue by suggesting the Sketchucation one.

The original author seems to be no longer doing anything with this plugin, I suspect he is doing other things…
I simply offered him the chance to reuse the corrected code in his own download link if he wished…
Under the terms of the (c) notice in his scripts changing it and republishing [with full original authorship recognition] is permitted.
Incidentally, your own v1.02 of Flattery is somewhat confusing as the Extension’s ‘version’ is now out of step and it will also install an unnecessary [outdated] ‘readme’ txt file in the Plugins folder…

a ‘ReadMe’ normally doesn’t harm, removed the manual and therefore obsolete installation instructions.
I am now having different installation problems with the latest corrected Flattery script, but I see no one else is, so it must be my computer. This one is weird: After downloading, it opens in WinZip, then I unzip it to my Downloads folder. I direct SU2015 to install it, but of course it can’t find the Flattey.rbz file until it’s been renamed. But when I rename it, the icon changes to the WinZip icon, which, if I select it (from inside Sketchup), then I get the same old message “Sketchup was unable to install the extension for some unknown reason.”

do not “open” but “download” e.g. to your desktop.
why? there is no need to unzip anything (see above).
you cannot rename what you did not have downloaded… do of course not rename the .RB file or anything else.
as already described above, download the .RBZ file from here or the SCF and install by “Window > Preferences > Extensions…”.
- When I download Flattery, I am given the choice of Saving the file or Opening with WinZip. Even if I choose to Save the file (to my desktop or wherever) it still opens in WinZip. I apparently have no control over this.
- I’ve been trying numerous ways to get Flattery to work, one of which was to unzip it to a folder… it didn’t work any more than trying to just “download” it worked.
- Box said in one of his comments above that I should “download and change the file extension to .rbz.” As you know, the Flattery file extension is originally .rb, but if don’t change the extension name to .rbz, then Sketchup cannot even find the file! But changing it to .rbz doesn’t work because as soon as I do, the file icon suddenly changes to the WinZip icon and then Sketchup gives me an (expected) error message.
All of this is what’s causing me to believe my PC is the problem. Nobody else seems to experience the same situation.
You don’t change the .rb filetype to .rbz but the .zip to .rbz.
(.rb → pack in zip → rename zip to .rbz → install from preferences - extensions)
Phew!! I finally understand!!! You would not believe how many times I read that post by Box, but did not catch on that he was saying to rename the zipped file and not the Flattery file!
Anyway, all is well and now Flattery is installed & working.
My unending thanks to everyone in this thread for such tremendous help.
I apologize to all for being so dang thick and not grasping what was being explained before.

which wouldn’t be required anyhow if you would have simply downloaded the recent version of the script attached as a ready made RBZ file from above… but sometimes you have to learn it the hard way 8-#
I had downloaded the file numerous times, including the version mentioned by TIG and I still had problems. But yes, perhaps I had to learn the hard way in order to understand what was being explained to me.
