Best method to make 3D triangles. I gave up 10 years ago

I Want to make a concept modal of a sailing craft using two masts at 30 degree angle from the side and 60 degree elevation from the deck meeting at the centerline. Getting them to extrude and meet seemed impossible. should I start from measured guidelines parallel to the axies or form the tubes and place them or both?

You should start by completing your profile. It is necessary to know your SketchUp version , your operating system…

In addition, if you put an image of what you intend to achieve, it would be even better.

Not sure what you have in mind.

Here is the hull that @LeighWebber posted a while back … with a traditional mast head sloop rig.

That same hull, with two 10 meter masts, each 30 degrees off the center line … and each at 60 degrees to the plane of the deck … might look something like this.

Here is that SketchUp model … if you want to experiment some on your own.

I suggest that you start with the mast cross section … and then extrude it to the appropriate length … using the “Follow Me” tool. Then it is a simple matter to locate the base of the mast … and then adjust the various angles as appropriate.

And as @rtches mentioned … it might also be helpful to complete your Forum profile … and to post the SketchUp model (.SKP file) you have questions about.
