Best Buy Laptops For Engineering Students, Expert Review

I researched the best buy laptops for engineering students over the past few days, as I’m planning to get one for my college use. I read reviews on TechRadar, Tom’s Hardware, and NotebookCheck, and they are marking these four as best:

Dell XPS 16 AI Powered OLED UHD Touchscreen Laptop

# HP 15.6" Touchscreen Laptop, Intel Core i7-1355U

However, I am having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and need your expert advice. As an engineering student, I’ll be using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, Python, and simulation tools, along with general multitasking, web browsing, and video calls. I’m looking for a laptop that can handle heavy workloads, has strong battery life, and is future-proof for the next few years.

So which one should I buy? Any recommendation will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

What version of SketchUp are you really using? Your profile says “SketchUp for Schools 2018 Desktop” but there is no such thing. Are you using a cr acked version of SketchUp or are you a school aged child using the web based SketchUp for Schools? If the latter, it isn’t very demanding so you could use a Chromebook.

I haven’t gone through the specs but all the touchscreen laptops I have seen use integrated graphics that aren’t ideal for SketchUp. SketchUp won’t support most touchscreen features anyway so I would look for a “gaming” or “workstation” laptop with discrete Nvidia graphics.
