Bending text to conform to awning shape

Dave…I didn’t know how to dial in the square size, but it’s pretty close
to 3 ft. …So, I made a rectangle…selected it…Made a copy and
dragged it back a ways like your sample text tool
Then I proceeded to open the 3D text tool and made an R, also being sure to
verify the settings in the text box were like yours. Including the 36"
extrusion :0)

Then I orbited the 2 squares and “placed the text” (I think) onto the
rearmost square. Then I selected “intersect to model”…so far so
good…But when I removed the 3D text, the outline only appeared on the
back square. Should I have intersected the text with BOTH squares? Anyhow,
This is as far as I can get without advice. I would have loved to dial in
the size of the square, but looked everywhere and couldn’t find that
dialogue.

Now I’m getting closer. And my fingers are getting itchy!

Thanks Dave for all you do. RoB

No. You should have selected the front rectangle for the Intersect operation.

By the way, to make a square that is 36 in. on a side, start the Rectangle tool and drag the cursor out in the required direction. Then let go of the mouse and type 36,36 and hit enter.

Sorry to say that I do nt know how to select a “size” for a rectangle, nor a distance between the copied one. I did however bring the awning back , used a straight on view, created the words Sleepytyme. Then I ried to pull/push/meander the caption to “pierce” the awning so I can intersect the caption with th model and delete artfiacts from the front and back. Then I would paint the letters and I would be done. If you were to take a little time to walk me through the process with the rectangles, including every step … I would follow it and be able to do this. I value your time and your advice. I’m gonna loose this client if I don’t have a rendering for him by Wednesday. If you are unable to giude me, perhaps someone on our users group can give me a quick Teamviewer session? Thanks for putting up with a photoshop/coreldraw nerd. Everything is so different but I love SU! Thank-You! RoB

Rob, I’d be happy to do it for you but it has to wait a little because I’m getting ready to take my son to Scouts. I’ll be back in a few hours.

Dave, I am in the EST time zone…would it be possible to do it tomorrow? Any time that’s good for you. Just tell me your time zone and what time we can meet and I will make sure I am available. Anytime between 8AM and 6PM Eastern is O for me. Wed. I have doctors appts. So if tomorrow is a possibility I would be very grateful. It’s probably much more simple that I think. I bought the SU 2016 now, so maybe I can make a recording of our session if thayt’s OK with you? Thank-You Dave, RoB

I’m in the Central time zone but wouldn’t be available until after 5 your time and then only for a very short time.

After 5 is fine, and I will respect your time constraints. My Wife gets
home at 6 and we an outing at 6:30. So a short session would be great.
Altho I am not worthy. :grinning:

I’ll send you a PM when I get home from work.

Yes Vahe …exactly.

I now know what un-glue does…Thanks~~
