The one on the left in your image has half-length edges where it meets the cut, and these are not perpendicular to the cut face!
Edit: oops! I may have said that backward…

I think your solution is the most elegant of all.
One benefit to Fredo’s new “Fredodcorner” is that it’s parametric and so the rounding operation can be undone for any further editing and then re-applied.
Steve, yes, there are some very useful additions to Fredocorner, but I could not get a satisfactory result.
When I used RoundCorner, I was able to follow your workflow and obtain the desired result.
Actually, of the different approaches, I found tips and tricks in each one. One was the use of Weld, which eliminated some stray lines/edges.
I especially liked the native tools approach from John and Box. The “elegant” approach by Box resulted in a solid group, which solved another issue.
Thanks to everyone for spending the time and effort, it certainly helped me a great deal.
Special thanks to mihai.s for the “bending” solution.
I totally agree that round corner and fredo corner are great tools, I use them a lot. But my comment was more about the level of detail needed and how you can use far less geometry to achieve a good visual result that is also better for further manipulation of complex geometry.
Here’s an example where rounded edges would make the bending process more complex, particularly as it could create many tiny edges that even scaled up will break causing you time consuming hunts for why aint it solid. Plus when making these sorts of structures they are often just background objects, not normally the main subject of a render, so looking good is often better than being perfect.
Sure if you are making a complex bent flange bracket for a catalog or something it needs the detail, but day to day components need to be as clean and low poly as possible.
The gif is a bit odd in parts as a ski boat went past throwing a huge wake that wobbled me in the middle of recording.
