Is SketchUp crashing when you are running it or is your computer crashing?

If it is SketchUp that is crashing frequently, it could be related to your graphics card. Unfortunately AMD Radeon cards are known for their poor support of OpenGL. Try opening SketchUp and immediately go to the Window menu. Click on Preferences>OpenGL. Disable Hardware Acceleration. Click OK and close the window. To make sure the change is set, quit SketchUp and restart. If the GPU was the problem, you should see an improvement.

You can check for updates to the drivers for the graphics card and install those. Re-enable Hardware Acceleration and see if it’s better.

Recently driver updates for Radeon cards also included an application called Plays.tv which seems to wreak havoc with SketchUp and some other programs. You might check to see if it is installed and remove it. If you install driver updates Plays.tv will most certainly be installed. Check after updating and remove it. Or, if you are given an opportunity to prevent it being installed, you should do that.
