Basic Workbench

My youngest son has a jewelry making class in high school and we managed to score a big “butcher block” (2" thick) table top from the high school automotive shop that they were throwing away.

Here is my simple workbench I want to build for him so he can keep making jewelry at home:

The table top is 32"x60"x2", and it must weigh at least a 100 lbs, it is heavy.

With a bench top that thick and heavy it may be more appropriate as a good solid general workbench.
Perhaps build a smaller Jewelers bench to compliment it.

Earlier Comment

A jewelers bench normally has an indent in the top and a draw beneath to catch all the valuable scrap/swarf/filings etc
Something like this.

That is the idea here, this is going to be a heavy duty workbench, probably mount a vice and maybe even a small anvil.

I will probably put a couple triangles in the front corners to make sure there is no racking of the front legs, not shown in model.
