Is there some way to attach floating extension toolbars once and for all onto top menu? I am on Windows and this happens after all new installation of extensions. A bit frustrating that Sketchup doesn’t remember where I want them stuck.
well it depends.
when you install a new extension, the toolbar will appear floating, top left of your screen. in this case, no, it won’t place itself automatically.
is this your issue ? upon installing ?
Preferences might not get saved properly between SketchUp sessions if SketchUp was not installed properly on Windows, affecting permissions etc…
There’s a simple fix and doesn’t mean uninstalling or losing and installed extensions etc…
Close SketchUp.
Find the appropriate SketchUp installer’s exe file [usually in Downloads - or download a new one]
Select the exe file’s icon, right-click > context-menu > ‘Run as administrator’
When prompted choose ‘Repair’
When it completes restart SketchUp, change some toolbars and close it.
Restart SketchUp and see if the toolbar changes were remembered…
Installing any complex app by double-clicking its exe file to ‘Run’ it is not the same thing, even if your user-account has admin-powers - it must be done using ‘Run as administrator’, otherwise unexpected issues arise like this…
Wonderful. That did the trick, contacted IT for them to reinstall it as we do not get full Admin rights. Thank you kindly!
