Apply Tags to Scenes (New 2025 Feature)

Could someone please explain how the new ‘apply tags to scenes’ feature in the 2025 release works? I can’t see how it’s different to clicking through and changing the scenes manually and updating each scene, but I’m sure I’m missing something simple here.

It looks as if I can apply tags but not exclude them using this option.

Thanks in advance.

You can select specific tags states to update in specific scenes all at once. No need to click through the scenes and update one at a time. It is a quality-of-life time saving feature.

Gotcha… so if you bring in new geometry when you already have multiple scenes set up, you can just apply them to the relevant scenes. Thanks for explaining it.

What am I doing wrong? I just created a new tag, one that I’d like off in every scene (there are about 30). I select the tag, turn it’s visibility off, select every scene, right-click “Apply Tags to Scenes”, and as soon as I test a scene, the tag turns back on.

Interesting… I just tried again and it still didn’t work. I created a new, very basic file, and tested this feature and it worked. I went back to my 28 MB model and tried it on a few tags and I got the “Creating Scene Thumbnail” window (which I didn’t before) and it now worked. Did it on all of the the other tags and it worked.

This is a great new feature!

Would it be better to call this:

Apply Tag States (or Visibility) to Scenes?

Apply Tag To Scenes sounds vague and confusing to me. What do others think?
