Any way to make Layout Object Snap stay off on a sheet forever?

Hi There - I don’t understand the reasoning behind this, but whenever I turn off “object snap” in the “Arrange” tab in Layout, it usually only stays off for a short while. I can’t find any rhyme or reason to when/why it decides to turn itself back on (it’s not just after a single use) but it sure is annoying! I almost never use the “object snap “ on, because it always snaps to fill edges, which are rarely in the same place as the model line underneath. So I either have to constantly turn my fill layer on and off, or the object snap setting on or off. Maybe this is a feature request, but I thought I’d check here first and see if anyone else has noticed this, or maybe I’m doing something wrong (a setting somewhere else?) anyway, thanks for reading!

What version of LayOut? Please update and complete your forum profile.

Perhaps there’s a keyboard shortcut set for toggling Object snap.

If you want to do something like dimension a model accurately you really need Object snap turned on. You also need to ensure there’s nothing between the viewports and the dimension layer. Turning off layers between is the practical thing to do.

I can’t see where to update my info - when I click on my profile icon in the upper right corner there’s no option there?

i did find out how to change my profile info.

I’m aware of the fact that object snap dimensions to the model, but as I said in the post, it usually goes to the fill, not the model (also a possible feature request, to have object snap ignore fill borders and corners and only dimension to the model), so it’s either constantly turning my fill layers on and off, or the object snap. Also, it’s not necessarily accurate with just the model in the view, sometimes it goes to something behind, or if the object in the view doesn’t have a visible point, it can’t find it and then keeps snapping to something else. Not ideal, any way I seem to be using it. Most of the time I know the dimensions of what I’m dimensioning (thankfully), or sometimes I have to look them up in the model to verify the accuracy.
