I should be grateful for advice on how to create the dome of this street lighting lantern. It’s another with a non-round base, though it is symmetrical around its centre points. Follow Me and Curviloft just can’t produce what is clear from the picture is needed.
I should be most grateful for help in creating this.

Have you tried applying the same method I already showed you?
Yes, I have. The problem is that I do not have a real understanding of how quads and subdivisions work and how the technique can be applied for things I want to model. I do appreciate that I have asked a similar question before. I have tried following tutorials but either I’m thick or they just don’t give one the fundamental basics that then can be applied to any structure one wants to model.
Regards.

There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube about working with quads and subdivisions, but it takes sustained study and many attempts before you succeed.
As an idea
Thank you for the video. That looks very suitable. It would be kind of you to upload the actual file if you feel able to do that.
I do appreciate that there are tutorials out there and I am perfectly willing to put in the hard yard to learn; but do you have any recommendations as to where I should start?
Regards.
Andrew
You can easily create it by starting from a box, to which you add a few subdivisions.
Use YouTube search for ‘quads’ and ‘subd’:
